Cerebral Success Smart X gained its fame for being an effective cognitive enhancing supplement after its success on ABC’s Shark Tank show. The product was approved by two investors from the judging panel, leaving America very impressed (to say the least). Soon enough, orders went through the roof and Smart X was the hottest new product to buy. We hope that they took their share of the dough and put it to good use. One thing is for sure, their website looks a million times better. Our question is: is Smart X genuinely a good product or is it simply riding through all the unnecessary hype? Stay tuned to find out.
Smart X is a product that can help boost four different areas: memory recall, focus, mental energy, and overall brain health. The blend can also help to reduce anxiety, which is helpful for people who need clearer minds during stressful situations. To evaluate this product from a scientific point of view, let’s check out the ingredients to make sure that everything is in place.
Vitamin B6 5mg
Folic Acid 200mcg
Vitamin B12 10mcg
Proprietary Blend 510.05mg
So the formula list does contain a lot of well-known esteemed nootropics, such as Vinpocetine, Huperzine A, and Vitamin B12. However, we must point out two main concerns: firstly, Smart X has placed caffeine under proprietary blend, meaning that we aren’t aware of the dose. Hopefully it hasn’t taken up 300 out of the 510 mg available. If that is the case, get ready for some major jitters. Secondly, the product includes DMAE – a substance recently banned by the FDA in the U.S., Canada and Australia for being potentially damaging towards nerve cells if used in the long-term.
Vinpocetine: One of our favorite nootropics to date. This bad boy works in two major ways: it enhances blood flow to the brain and it provides successful neuroprotective agents. By increasing blood flow, we are able to focus better and for longer periods of time, enhance memory and improve cerebral metabolism. At the same time, a steady dose of Vinpocetine may prevent future neural diseases and brain cell deterioration.
Huperzine A: Is effective in enhancing memory storage and recall. Clinical trials that took place in China has also shown that Huperzine A can be effective in improving symptoms of patients with Alzheimer’s disease.
Vitamin B6 and B12: Helps with cellular metabolism to enhance focus, regulates secretion of serotonin (neurotransmitter responsible for mood and sleep) to help balance mood and increase motivation.
DHA: An Omega-3 fatty acid that can be found in cold-water fish (salmon, tuna). This nutrient is very important for our mental and visual development, particularly in babies and infants. Although clinical trials are still in progress and remain limited, there is scientific suggestion that taking a daily dose of DHA could protect against visual and cardiovascular impairment in the future.
Effects and Benefits
Smart X is a product that we were definitely eager to try because of all the good inputs that people have given online. A total of 7 members from our team bravely stepped up to try this supplement. After explaining what the product can do and which ingredients it contains, our testers were excited to see whether any positive results would come.
We decided to test the product for 10 weeks in order to see both short and long term results. During the very first week, we unfortunately did not see any major changes. Some participants felt more alert and energized after the second day of use, but we assume that this was merely a placebo effect.
By the second week, however, something great happened. Our testers felt a significant boost in focus and concentration. They could stay on task for 3-4 hours while being fully engaged and not distracted without seeing any signs of mental fatigue. These effects continued until week 6, when we began noticing a slight improvement in memory. Our members reported being able to remember small details from incidences a lot better and could recall them with ease. We decided to put these claims to the test by using a memory game on www.brainmetrix.com. This simple game was available on the website without any complicated downloads and hassles. An array of rectangular boxes are presented on the screen and after clicking ‘Go!’, the computer will automatically color one of the boxes yellow. It is then your turn to press which box was previously colored. The more you can remember, the higher the levels go. Our testers showed an average improvement of 4 levels before and after using Smart X.
Potential Side Effects
There were no major side effects other than minor headaches experienced by 3 of our members. These members are new to nootropics and have never used any type of cognitive enhancer beforehand, which is probably why they went through slight discomfort. We recommend that you stop using the product for a few days if you experience any kind of headache, nausea, trouble sleeping, vomiting or jitters. Another way to prevent this from happening is by reducing your dose. Please be aware that this could decrease the chances of results taking place. It is important to understand that cognitive enhancing supplements increase blood flow to the brain, which is why side effects (i.e. headaches) are common.
If you purchase the product via their official website, a bottle of 30 capsules costs $45.00. Since the recommended dose is 1-2 capsules per day, the bottle could last up to one month. If you’re new to nootropics then we suggest that you stick to taking 1 capsule a day for about 2 weeks before increasing the dose. However, if this is not your first time and you have grown a tolerance for nootropic supplements, go ahead and take 2 capsules each day. If the bottle only lasts you 15 days, then a full month’s supply would amount to $90.00. This price is far too high, particularly for the formula given.
Amazon.com seems to sell each bottle of 60 capsules for $65.99. This is their old branding and formula, so we suggest that you stick to their official website.
“Doesn’t work. Not worth a fraction of the selling price. The only thing they have going for this product is the Caffeine + L-Theanine blend (the most basic blend), but there are so many cheaper and better alternatives than SmartX for that mix. Their old Amazon product page had much, much lower reviews. The company is also coming under fire from The National Advertising Division for having many unsubstantiated claims. If you do end up purchasing because of all the advertising, post here and warn others too.”

“I work IT and am a student so I’ve been looking for something to help me out. Really been struggling with my energy and just feeling burnt out. Smart x was recommended to me by a friend and honestly it’s helped so much. I highly recommend it to anyone for energy and focus.”

“WAY better than coffee/energy drinks. It takes about 30 minutes to kick in for me and I feel like I can focus on anything. Even if I get interrupted I feel like I can dive right back into what I was working on. kinda pricey but i bought off their website using a Shark Tank coupon.”

- Increases mental alertness
- Boosts focus and concentration
- Works very well for some
- Very expensive
- May not work for you
- May cause headaches
Smart X is a good supplement that we wouldn’t mind recommending to others. The formula is quite good and the product does have the potential to work very well. Customer reviews vary; some are very positive while others complain about not feeling any effects. Please note that cognitive supplements work differently on different people, because we all have our individual diets, conditions, health history, etc. If you don’t mind busting your wallet from the heavy price tag, then we don’t see why you shouldn’t give this product a try. However, if you are not convinced by the ridiculous pricing then please know that there are much better options out there for a cheaper price.
